It's re-Written in the Stars*

Orion in the summer sky
above the heavens way up high.

It's what I see that's what it is,
don't tell me that it can't be so.

places that I've never know'n.

Summer Sky

There's nothing like a starry sky
to make me raise my head up high.
Above even the brightest glow,
a configuration that I know--
My eyes go back,
I crane my neck....
oh
oh
Oh

O r i o n

Note from me: After I posted this, I realized, Orion is generally seen in the winter,
and could I really have seen "Orion in the summer sky"? last night? It's raining tonite so I can't check. I could have sworn I saw the three stars and that is why I felt so happy and surprised, to look way way up, literally to the top of the heavens, to see it's belt.
So I just looked up 'Orion in the summer sky', and lo and behold, it looks like it can't be seen. Could I have mistaken the 3 stars in a row for something else? Any astronomers out there? Or, once the rain stops and it's a clear night I will look again. I may have made a heavenly mistake!
That's what's tricky or lovely about a poem---it's a Feeling in a Moment, so I suppose it doesn't matter if it's really there or not, right?

I am beginning to yearn for a simpler time,

life was so easy when I couldn't link!

since I discovered how to highlight, I am linking left and right, right and left from within one post.
it's fun and yet there was something about plain old-fashioned posts, no where to go but the post where you are.
do you like to link?

Pino Noir *

*I keep editing this post till it's almost disappearing into the night, but what remains is the new title, above, thanks to John, and to 'Otli''s dialogue in the comments. Merci, tous les deux...a toast, to a collaborative post, and it's perfect there are 3 bite-sized pieces left.

  • subtitle:

Watching the waxing crescent moon while enjoying an ice cold Pino

The moon kept getting closer and closer to the space I was in.
Until finally, it arrived on top of the Pino pack.
Just a little above the dot
on the i.

Happy weekend! JGY

PS Pino can be cross-referenced on my Found in Japan blog:)

PSS A French question: Does 'tous les deux' mean 'both'? It's how I thought to say it, but I just tried to find it in the 'translator' and I got these variations:)

deux d'entre eux, oui les deux
Je remercie les deux d'entre eux
tous deux d'entre eux
les deux
un toast à vous deux

a dieu

Prelude

A candlelight concert a train ride away,
up a hill called Tori Goe, 'sound of birds'
to an art museum named Artegio where all the pictures have a Music theme.

We stayed and we sat on the concrete floor in the candlelit room. Piano music filled the gallery, surrounded by candles of different heights and in all different colors. We could barely see the playing but we could hear the music, and outside we could see the silhouetted mountains and still hear faintly the sounds of birds...

PS To Corner view,
after the music, softly sleeping on the train ride back.

To tune in to this week's Corner View, start with Jane in Spain and let the music move you around the globe:

Quote from Goethe's Faust

p.8
The clown says:

"The proverb's wrong, you see.
Age is no second childhood--age makes plain,
children we were, true children we remain."

3 variations on Summer Clouds

Today I first noticed
the summer clouds.

Dissolved into light blue
the summer clouds.

Summer clouds dissolve
into light.

For this weeks Corner View Wednesday, Street Fashion,
My daughter is modelling a must-have item for elementary school students, the
'Ra-n-do-se-ru'. The word is presumably from German, but like many words 'borrowed' from other languages, the Japanese rendition becomes a word in itself.
Students carry their books for the day in these leather-ette backpacks which come in many colors. Years ago girls wore red and boys wore black, but now they come in light blue, shades of pink, navy and tans depending on the trends.

Here in the photos Y turns her back away from me because other kids are coming and she is at the fashionable age where it is un-fashionable to be seen on the streets anywhere near her mother.

Happy Wednesday!
For Street Fashion around the globe, please take the corner view tour beginning with Jane in Spain, and these other great eyes for fashion:

Corner View Wednesday---3 birds named To, Ma, Re

c

Three birds on a wire were sitting so perfectly still in the rain.
They were poised directly over the street life, evenly spaced above the word

TO - MA - RE

which is the street sign painted on the road meaning 'STOP'.

I am intrigued by the way the street signs in my Japan neighborhood are painted on the roads, its as if the ground is turned into one big asphalt canvas with symbols that I have to decipher in my days.

As you can see in the post title, I decided to call the birds

To, Ma, and Re.
(pronounced TOE, MA, RAY)

I am beginning to understand what they are telling me.

What do you see out your window?
Corner view participants can be clicked on by following the little birds to Jane HERE...all the way in Spain.

I can link now, so I will have to figure out how to post the list, any tips welcome!

Happy Wednesday♬

Food for thought

The whole of this life
is wonderful.

I told that to the goldfish
before I went to sleep
and they didn't move
at all, but I woudn't say
they were un-moved
because I'm learning that
my happiness is
your happiness and so I must've
added a drop of it into
the tank.
