counting she's

I couldn't sleep,
didn't know who I am.
Y told me to say 'You're Joanne', over and over.

"I'm Joanne, I'm Joanne, I'm Joanne", I said.

Count them, like you're counting sheep, she said.

So I started counting them--
I'm Joanne, 1
I'm Joanne, 1
I'm Joanne, 1

I could only count to 1.

Have them (the Joannes) jumping over the fence, like the sheep, she said.

That made me laugh, I can't sleep if I keep jumping over the fence, I said.

She laughed too, and we went
to sleep.

*Picture above is by Y,
She won the gold prize.
Her drawing is inspired from a book called The Magic Tree House Series

Ha ha!
A really nice painting, that makes me think about Marc Chagall and his dreamy work.

Wow, from this blog post I learned that Y is an amazing artist (like her mother) and an extremely wise young woman in the face of the greatest of existential questions! Give that girl a tickle for me!

and ps: The security word I had to type in to post this comment is Jayme (J-Me) ... perhaps a secret message for you, Jo!

p.s. when you see my next blog post you'll have more ideas for what to do when you can't sleep and feel like counting she-s or sheep :) Stay tuned!

(The post is scheduled to appear on Wednesday, but I wrote it days before reading this post ... funny coincidence!)

I also thought of Chagall! She is very talented... Love your daughter's art piece!

and... I think 1, 1, 1 is a good thing. You know yourself :^)
