*Long post--even if you don't read the whole thing,
read the poem at the end.
It might
make you laugh.
This weeks Corner View theme is "laugh"--
something (someone) that always makes you laugh.
I wasn't going to do it this week, because all I could think of was Luca. My friend who died almost exactly a year ago.
He always made me laugh.
When he died, I wasn't there at all, but I found out from the obituary article that his friend who was with him 'till the end was telling him jokes in Italian and hugging him till he left.
The funny thing is, last night he (Luca) came to me in a dream.
He made me laugh out loud, from my sleep.
We were at a movie outside seated under a tent and he told me about the vegetarian lunch he likes. He said it as our plates were being filled with meat.
He got up from his seat and started cutting the meat for both of us, doing it like those chefs at Benihana (Benessee was the the dream restaurant he named).
"Lamb!" he said.
What are you going to do for us, lamb?
You play with us on the plate and then
we get hungry.
(as he tosses the chunks around on the plate with two butter knives, readying them for us to eat)
Alas, this year I wanted to say his name out loud,
to bring him into
Light.
And now, the poem:
Gusto
Even dead
everything you do
you do it
with Life.
