Corner View--Gusto

*Long post--even if you don't read the whole thing,
read the poem at the end.
It might
make you laugh.

This weeks Corner View theme is "laugh"--
something (someone) that always makes you laugh.

I wasn't going to do it this week, because all I could think of was Luca.  My friend who died almost exactly a year ago.

He always made me laugh.

When he died, I wasn't there at all, but I found out from the obituary article that his friend who was with him 'till the end was telling him jokes in Italian and hugging him till he left.

The funny thing is, last night he (Luca) came to me in a dream.
He made me laugh out loud, from my sleep.

We were at a movie outside seated under a tent and he told me about the vegetarian lunch he likes.  He said it as our plates were being filled with meat.
He got up from his seat and started cutting the meat for both of us, doing it like those chefs at Benihana (Benessee was the the dream restaurant he named).

"Lamb!" he said.
What are you going to do for us, lamb?
You play with us on the plate and then
we get hungry.

(as he tosses the chunks around on the plate with two butter knives, readying them for us to eat)

Alas, this year I wanted to say his name out loud,
to bring him into
Light.

And now, the poem:

Gusto

Even dead
everything you do
you do it
with Life.

(laugh)

Corner View-Table--post in progress

These mornings of the waning moon I've been going out onto the outdoor corridor in front of our apartment and set up my sky watching stool and a lay down a blanket, and here I have breakfast.
This day as I took a bite of my pancake I saw that it's shape exactly echoed the moon!
Waning morning moon, waning pancake, on the stool that serves as a table.

Happy Corner View!
What's a table like near you?

at this point I observed --and noted in my diary---that the pancake almost exactly echoed the waning moon, can you see it if you rotate the waning pancake slightly how it echoes the moon shape above?!

dancing on mt. fuji

it's still a dream, but perhaps one day!
Marie wrapped some nira from her garden and presented them to me  in a blue Mt. Fuji  newspaper .  The nira (green long scallion like vegetable how do you say it in English?) was delicious, and good for stamina on hot days... wanting to use the image again I added a Shake Your Soul Dancer logo*, and turned it into the flier for my next Shake Your Soul/Kripalu Yoga Dance in Oita Evening.

You are invited.  RSVP♡
happy summer days!  How are you?  It's Getting hot in Japan!

Morning moon gives rise to summer

Come stai, moon?
The morning after
two stars meet**
a soft blanket
beneath my feet

I think (and write) this line:
"how utterly everything..."

not sure how to follow it with words,
absorbed in how the radiance of moon dust
permeates the morning air, when a voice
from a loudspeaker beams into sky blue,
a resonant resounding
"ohayoo gozaimasu"!*

*good morning

Butterfly Love

Sometimes what we need to find is this close to home,
just next door, a few steps outside our 'house'.
