cemi serenade

a cicada stopped by our verandah to sing his song
a cemi's seranade doesn't last long
this one sang his solo to me, c-c-c-c-c-
in semi-3 part harmony
and went off to join the surrounding chorus of c's  !

note:  it was so sweet to get the cicada's sound so close, he flew onto the verandah, must have been the morning glories because usually we don't get a cicada on the balcony... it was as if he was singing to me and at the same time part of a huge chorus, and after a few verses he flew away!.
(in Japanese, cicada = cemi, their sound-surrounds summer.
what are the sounds like around you?)

Matsuri on a Tomare

notes on the post:  Tomare="Stop" (止まれ)the stop sign painted on the roads which has become my obsession/attraction/teacher/philosophy over the last 10 years
Matsuri=Festival  (祭)July was the season for summer festivals in Japan, this entry is from a festival in mid July that I'm just getting around to posting, figured it ought to post before O-bon, the holiday that is approaching this week

I wasn't exactly uninvited but I wasn't exactly invited either.  I kind of just got in.  It was after a workshop with a Tai-kyoku-ken (Qi-gung) master so the energies seemed to be in the right place.  Perfectly lunch time and I joined the table with a few other of the semi-uninvited for homemade curry at a yoga sensei's house that looked right out on a summer festival.  The festival was just beginning as the curry plates were served.  We ate and talked and watched the omikoshi (portable shrines on which the gods are taken around for a good time to frolic in the festival atmosphere this one day a year ).  From our front and center seats at the table I noticed that each group of paraders stopped and performed their bit of the parade right on a Tomare!

A tomare moment turned into a tomare stage, as the procession got more and more exciting with bigger and bigger omikoshi which I even had a chance to run under.
Tomare seemed to wink and say "yes, you were invited here (by me!). "  He hee.

Happy Summer Holidays,  whatever season you are in!

Corner View-Fauna

First the early morning moon brought the morning glory into existence.

Then the morning glory called a friend.

It's as if nature calls her fellow nature.

I'm here, shouts the green, and then a fellow green living being whose never appeared here before feels the call and comes to blend in and play as each shows off his magnificence.

I think he knew how magic it all was and at the same time acted as if it was the most natural thing in the world.

Which of course it is and it is (both.  Natural and magic/magnificent.  exactly).  Someone wanted to show this to me.

And like all miracles, he flew away as magically as he appeared.

What's the fauna like near you?  It's the theme on Corner View.(Sorry I'm late!)
